The shelter
The shelters may best be described as mobile units suitable for the installation and protection of
complex technical equipment and particularly useful for institutional, military, civil, humanitarian
and sanitary organisations in their fieldwork.
In comparison with traditional mobile units such as tents, prefabricated structures, mobile homes,
caravans etc. the advantage offered by the shelters is a better protection of the equipment, a better
mechanical performance, increased mobility and easier setting-up; they have a longer operation life
and a lower weight in comparison with the used volume and offer better performance also in the most
severe ambient conditions and an efficient shielding against electromagnetic interferences.

The shelters can be used in a wide range of activities:
Data reception and transmission centres, Power stations, Command and control units, Units for air
traffic control, Geological monitoring units, Units for logistic support (warehouses, workshops, etc.),
Medical units: Clinical analyses laboratories, Radiological units, Dental, stomatological, gynecological,
epidemiological, ophtalmological surgeries and emergency wards, Operation theatres, Pharmacies.

In the past years SWISEL Italiana has distinguished itself for the realisation of a wide range of
interior equipment produced either according to its own design or according to its customers’ technical
specifications and standards.
SWISEL Italiana’s construction technology enables the manufacturing of a great number of dimensional
typologies to satisfy the customers' requests for personalised solutions.
The cabin consists of a structural frame built of light alloy profiles with a high resistance.
These profiles are mounted to ISO corners.

The panels, also with structural and carrying functions, are riveted to the frame. Theses panels
are of the “sandwich” type, glued in a hot press and consist of a thermostabilized, self-extinguishing
foam isolation material between two metal sheets and a highly resistant frame that enables the subsequent
safe application of anchoring points for equipment and fittings.
SWISEL Italiana designs and manufactures its shelters according the requirements of the relevant
MIL and COTES specifications.
The main components of a basic shelter are:
An air-conditioning unit for controlling the workroom temperature; a complete electric installation
including lighting and an electric distribution and control board; the installation for compressed
air and a lifting device that, when mounted to the ISO corners, enables levelling and loading and
unloading the shelter to and from a motor vehicle.
